I Like It

Many years ago, when my son Jonathan was a little boy, I used to take him to the baseball field down the street to play ball together on Saturday mornings. One Saturday, after we arrived at the baseball field, I said, “Jonathan, I love you.” He said, “I know it. Let’s play baseball.” A little while later I said, “Jonathan, I love you so much.” He grunted, “uh huh.” About fifteen minutes later I said once again, “Jonathan, I really love you.” Finally, Jonathan said, “Papa, why do you keep telling me that?” I said, “Oh, I don’t know. I guess I need to say it, and I think you need to hear it. But if it bothers you, I’ll quit. Do you want me to stop?” Jonathan thought a moment. Then, with a sheepish grin on his face he said, “No, I like it.”

From our childhood to our senior adult years, we like being told that we are loved. Tell someone you care about today that you love them. Regardless of their age, they will like it
